Camping at White Water State Park

This summer we spent half of a week at White Water State Park. We decided the boys were old enough to go for a little longer than we have before. Al and I were just not sure if we were too old to go for that long :) But we went longer and had a great time! We had a great camp site right near the water and not too close to everyone else. It didn't take too long to get everything set up and we were off to explore. We also tried our hand at Geo caching. The boys had a great time using the GPS and finding the "treasure" box.

More of our camping trip...

A lot of our camping trip was spent in the river. It was really nice because our camp site was right next to the river. The boys had a lot of fun swimming, jumping in, and floating down the river. It was absolutely freezing to get into, but still fun.

Family Camp Trip, finished...

To finish out our camping trip...we attended a naturalist class about beavers. There are a lot of beavers along the White Water River. We learned about the special thing about a beaver that helps it to survive. Ayden got to be the beaver with all of the attributes. Then we went along the river with binoculars and looked for signs that the beavers were there. We saw gnawed off tree branches and trails made by their tails. To round out our trip the boys also learned how more about fishing and ended the night with sparklers. The fishing wasn't great due to the time of the day, but they also had a great time practicing. We were told there were a lot of trout in the river, but none were caught by us.
